Install the Afterify app

Afterify Studio is a progressive web app (PWA). That means you can install it from your browser (no app store needed) and it opens in its own window like a native app. Installation is optional; everything works the same in a normal browser tab.

Install on desktop

  1. Open app.afterify.com in Chrome or Edge and sign in.
  2. Click the install icon that appears at the right end of the address bar (in Chrome it looks like a monitor with a down arrow; the browser may also show an "Install Afterify Studio" prompt).
  3. Confirm Install.

Afterify Studio now opens in its own window and appears in your taskbar, dock or Start menu like any other app.

Install on your phone or tablet

  • iPhone / iPad (Safari): open app.afterify.com, tap the Share button, then tap Add to Home Screen and confirm.
  • Android (Chrome): open app.afterify.com, tap the browser menu (three dots), then tap Add to Home screen (some versions say Install app).

The Studio icon lands on your home screen and opens full-screen.

How updates work

Afterify ships updates continuously. The installed app (and any open tab) checks for a new version once an hour, and again as soon as you switch back to a tab that's been in the background longer than that.

When an update is ready, a bar appears across the top of the app:

"A new version of Afterify is ready. Click to update."

  • Click the bar to update, and the app reloads on the new version.
  • Click Later to dismiss it and keep working; the app updates the next time it reloads.

Updates never interrupt you mid-session: nothing changes until you click the bar or reload.

If the bar keeps reappearing or the app seems stuck on an old version, see App not updating.

Working offline

If your connection drops, a banner appears at the top of the app:

"Attempting to restore connection. Changes made now may not be saved."

You can keep looking around, but hold off on edits and uploads until the banner clears. A toast saying "Afterify online" confirms you're reconnected and it's safe to continue.
